Your First Orthodontic Visit

At Burch Orthodontics we always enjoy meeting new patients during their first office visit. Many prospective patients wonder what to expect during their first visit. The initial consultation will be when Dr. Burch performs a thorough visual examination of your teeth, jaw, bite, alignment and any potential problems. This first appointment is complimentary and is necessary to determine which braces system is best for your case. If necessary, our staff may perform a panoramic x-ray of the mouth to discover any problems which may not be obvious upon first look.

Patients often have similar questions when they consult with an orthodontist for the first time:

  • Is orthodontic treatment needed immediately or should it be delayed based on jaw & bone growth, tooth eruption or other factors?
  • What orthodontic technology and treatments are available to correct my specific case?
  • How many, if any, permanent teeth need to be removed?
  • How long will I be in braces?
  • How much will braces cost?
  • What payment options are available?

We do our best to answer these general questions about orthodontic treatment during the initial examination and will address your specific concerns after careful analysis of your diagnostic records. It is very important to analyze each patient's particular needs, because proper planning leads to higher patient satisfaction and superior results.

Based on Dr. Burch's initial findings, we will schedule another visit to discuss your treatment options, time frames and financial arrangements. We insist that every patient leaves our office with a clear understanding of their specific needs including what the treatment will consist of and how long it will take.
